Next competition : November 9
The Montreal Highland Dancing Association was formed in 1960 and the objectives of this non-profit organization are to promote Scottish dance and culture. The MHDA is affiliated with the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing, the world governing body, and is responsible for the organization of all dancing competitions held in Quebec. There are four local competitions per year in Montreal (November, February, March and May), as well as the Montreal Highland Games which take place every August.
Every year the province of Quebec is represented at the Canadian Inter-provincial Highland Dancing Championships, an event which draws spectators from around the world. Montreal has hosted this event four times over the years, in 1981, 1993 , 2001 and more recently in 2013.
Our dancers compete in competitions throughout Canada, the United States and Scotland as well as performing for veterans, parades and other Scottish events in Montreal. In association with ScotDance Quebec, the professional association of teachers, the MHDA actively supports the art of highland dancing by giving workshops and other activities which allow our young people to realize their potential and achieve their goals.
